That was the first thing that came to mind when I heard the diagnosis ME/CFS. After 4 years I finally knew what was wrong with me. Why my body hurt all the time.

Get some exercise, everyone said, go to bed a little earlier. Don’t be such a lazy teenager. And now….now I know what’s up and everyone gets it.

I just don’t get it myself yet. Never play football again? I can’t imagine. Dennis tells what it was like when he was diagnosed with ME/CFS at the age of 15. In the years before, he continued to exercise on everyone’s advice, despite the pain in his muscles and joints.

That pain has now become a regular part of his day. The chance of a (complete) recovery has decreased considerably in those 4 years.

Dennis says: “It is very important to listen to your body, if something doesn’t feel right, don’t let yourself be told that you are a lazy teenager and should start exercising more, find out what is wrong!”
